Sorry it's been so long! July 18th, 2011

I just found out the cancer has spread to my bones and lungs. I have ascites which makes me look like I am six months pregnant at times. I am trying to stay as healthy as I can by eating well, juicing, and walking. I need to get Corey to 18 years old! I was very depressed yesterday, but am managing better today. I can't eat a lot at one time due to the ascites. Corey, mom loves you. I am always in your heart.

2nd carbo round tomorrow

I have my second round of carbo tomorrow. Yipppeee! Let's kick some cancer's ass! Kick, kick, kick. I still have my hair! I'll keep you posted. Corey had his orientation for his new middle school, Pinkerton. He's going to be a seventh grader! I love you, Corey. Health and love!

March 12, 2011: Stared Carbo on Thursday

I stared Carbo on Thursday. I feel asleep during treatment. Then I drove home and went to Henry's for some fresh fruits and veggies. I went for a short walk when I got home. I figured I might as well take advantage of the energy I had. I was tired after that and had to go to bed. Corey got back from Sly Park yesterday. He had a great time. He went on lots of hikes, made a silk screen shirt, did other arts and crafts, and learned that you can eat Douglas Fir. Today we have to do laundry and straighten up the house. Love and health to all!

Still Recovering but on my Way! Feb.17, 2011

The liver biopsy was not a walk in the park. I had to have a drain put in me to drain off 40 cc of fluid. I had to stay in the hospital for two days. I was bloated to the point of looking 8 months pregnant. I felt like a beached whale and had to sleep on a futon on the floor so I could make it to the bathroom. The air they pumped in me to do the surgery is slow to leave my body. I look about 3 months pregnant now. Corey has been great. He's so helpful I can't tell you. He did laundry, vacuumed, and did the shopping for me. He's the best! Corey, mom loves you very much. You are wonderful! Love and health to all!

O.k., Team Barley, let's gear up for surgery. Yes, I am having the liver biopsy! It's next Thursday. The Gemzar was frying my liver, so I felt like I needed to try to identify something that will work on the cancer without the horrible side effects I was having. I love you all! Thanks for all your love and support! Corey, mommy loves you very much. I am trying to protect you to the best of my ability. I love you more than words can express. Hugs and kisses to last a lifetime. Love, love, love......
